Finding the right meal plan whether you’re living on campus or off campus can be overwhelming. The Jay leasing team has helped many students sort through their Texas A&M meal plan options.

That’s why we’ve created a detailed guide including meal plan options, benefits and limitations, to help you navigate Aggie dining and decide the one for you.

Texas A&M offers many meal plan options to accommodate the varying needs of each student. The University even has a Roadmap Quiz for finding the perfect plan for you. Meal plans include meal swipes, Maroon Meals and dining dollars all loaded onto your Aggie card (Student ID). Before exploring the different meal plan options, it helps to understand what each of these components means for you as a student.

Meal Swipes

Meal swipes are redeemable at Sbisa Dining Hall, The Commons and Duncan Dining Hall, and they provide students with a “all-you-care-to-eat” (buffet-style) dining experience. Students can use meal swipes multiple times a day depending on their meal plan but will likely have to wait 45 minutes between swipes. Occasionally, these meal swipes can be converted to Maroon Meals.

Maroon Meals

Available in the All-Access and Block plans, Maroon Meals are a preset combo meal at retail locations across campus, such as Chick-fil-APanda Express1876 Burgers and other Aggie Dining retail spots. You can find the specified spots, combos and their prices on the Maroon Meals page on the Aggie Dining website. Maroon meals are usually deducted as a meal swipe or from your weekly retail allowance and were designed for quick meals between classes.

Dining Dollars

Dining dollars are a dollar-for-dollar balance account linked to your Aggie ID, similar to a debit card for food purchases at locations on campus. Aggies can use dining dollars at Texas A&M dining halls and restaurants, coffee shops, markets and food trucks. Dining dollars can be reloaded in increments of $25, however, if you don’t use them all in the fall semester they can roll over to the spring and expire at the end of the academic year.

Meal Plans for On-Campus Students

For students living on-campus, Texas A&M offers multiple meal plans to meet their needs whether they are in the residence halls or on-campus apartments like White Creek.

First-year students are required to have the basic meal plan if they are living on campus. If they are not registered for a meal plan by January 6 of the previous academic year, they will be automatically enrolled in the All Access 7/100. Freshmen are otherwise offered, All Access 7, All Access 5, The Block 140, The Basic Plan or the White Creek Plan.

Sophomores and upperclassmen living on campus are not required to participate in Aggie Dining, but are highly encouraged to for convenience, nutritional benefits and help with budgeting. Any meal plans from All Access to Block plans to Dining Dollars Only are available to sophomores and upperclassmen as long as they are not members of the Corp of Cadet.

All Corp of Cadet members, similar to first-years, are required to have a base meal plan for the academic year, and if a meal plan is not selected the All Access 7/100 will be selected for them. To find more information on on-campus student’s participation in Aggie Dining visit the Aggie Dining website

Meal Plans for Off-Campus Students

Aggie Dining is more flexible with students living off-campus, offering three different meal plan types: All Access, Block and Dining Dollar Only Plans.

All Access plans can be customized based on the days of the week (5 or 7), Maroon Meals per week (5 or 7), and Dining Dollars you prefer. Maroon Meals are limited to two meals per day. Additionally, All Access plans give you access to exclusive offers during the school year. All Access plans are the only plans that Aggie+ can be added onto for added convenience when eating around campus.

Block Plans give students a limited amount of meal swipes and dining dollars per semester. Meal swipes under the Block plan can be used at any of the three dining halls on campus and can be converted to a Maroon Meal once per day.

Dining Dollar Only plans are the most affordable and basic meal plans available for all students but are a primary option for students living off campus. They offer flexibility for students that live far from campus or students that aren’t on campus all day every day. Dining Dollar plans receive a discounted rate for entry into any of the three dining halls.
