Is it Possible for First-Year Students at Texas A&M to Live Off-Campus?

Absolutely! Texas A&M does not require freshmen to live on campus. Some programs, such as Living Learning Communities (LLCs), may require on-campus housing for participating students, but this is optional and only applies if you choose to join the program. LLCs bring together students with shared academic or personal interests, allowing them to live and learn alongside one another during their first year. Northgate

5 Reasons for Freshmen to Live Off Campus at Texas A&M University

1. Cook Your Own Meals

Many on-campus dorms only offer shared community kitchens, and access can be limited or crowded. Off-campus apartments typically come with full kitchens, giving you a full-size refrigerator, real pantry space, an oven and stovetop, a microwave and plenty of room to prepare meals. 

Having your own kitchen makes it easy to meal prep, cook with roommates or simply avoid the cost of eating out every day. It also gives you more control over your diet, schedule and budget, which can be a huge advantage during your first year.

2. Have Your Own Space

Off-campus apartments usually offer private bedrooms, private or semi-private bathrooms, full-size beds, real closets and more comfortable living spaces overall.
